Model 6 Electronics

I've put it off for a long time but the pots and switches in my Model 6 are non-functional and had to come out. I don't like the thought of changing the voice of this wonderful guitar but need to start thinking seriously about replacement pickups. Looking for any recommendations on this. Curious to see what other players have done in this case.
I want to replace the JE-1200 preamp but it seems internal pre-amps just aren't a thing any more. I've had this guitar for 24 years now and it is my #1 and I'd like to keep it as close as possible to the original sound.

Only thing you can do at this point is clean and fix or replace with a used JE-1200 I guess. If you like the sound of the guitar that much you should save an eBay search to try to find one.

is the original je-1200 broken? if not, there's not really a need to replace it.

There is a company making an after-market unit
I don't know who, but I know I have seen people mentioning it on the board.
