  • Maple fretboards on import hard tail / vintage trems

When I think of Charvel, I think of a thick slab maple fretboard with lots of end-grain showing, and I'm happy to see that on a lot of their newer guitars. But I'm not a locking trem type of guy, and everything with a maple board seems to have a Floyd Rose. I'd really like to see an import hard tail or vintage tremolo model with a maple fretboard. I wonder why all the Pro Mod Hard Tails have rosewood? It seems like the only way I can get a guitar with the specs that I'm after is to spend $2,000+ on a USA model, and I just can't afford that.

How about it Charvel? Maybe next year? A non-Floyd maple fretboard model would round out the lineup nicely!

Are you after a pointy or a strat head maple boarded neck?

      Strat headstock, definitely.
I've owned several of the late 80s MIJ pointy heads (my first electric in high school was a Model 1C), and they are great. But I meant the new line with the Fender headstocks.

Ah I see. That's definitely vintage/custom shop territory. Unless you can find a Grover legacy guitar. like this :

Sweet! That's pretty much exactly what I want, and I hadn't heard about those. Thanks for the info, will have to do some research and start looking around.

Just get a hardtail body & maple promod neck, find a builder to fill in the Floyd shelf.
Built mine with a M1A neck, its a nice axe.

Wait, don't those models go for around $2K new? That Ebay auction seems like a rare deal.

Yeah, I'm surprised those hard tails only come with rosewood. Maple is where it's at.
