Can you help me identify this Import?

My friend recently got this, and I'm pretty confused to what it is.

I know it's an Import... That's about it Well I have the Serial Number too, it's: 309588

That's a very nice 1988 Model 1C !
White body, black hardware and maple board looks great !

I have a Cobalt Blue one, wasn't aware of it being Japan only...
