Ahh so I finally broke down from my bass buying and bought a guitar. AN AWESOME CHARVEL!!! I picked it up for only $100 on Craigslist. The guy I bought it from called it a Model 1. However, I was just making sure I am right on it. It has a Jackson single coil in it. He said it was active, but he is wrong, and it has one knob. A volume. It also has a trem bridge on it...I think that is what it is called. I'm not down with the 6 string lingo. Let me know what you guys think it is. Thanks!!!!

      Yep, that's a Model 1. And that's not a single coil. It's a humbucker with a cover on it. Probably a J90-C.

      Nice score for $100.

Oh right on. Now I opened up the back panel and saw there was no battery or anything. So I am assuming it is passive, right?

Correct. It's just a regular passive pickup with a plastic cover over it.

Ok awesome thank you guys for the info. Now I was curious about that bridge. I need to buy a bar yet and I don't know exactly what I need. Is there an adapter that I need to buy to sit in there so I can buy a generic spin on bar? I am also ordering a new knob. I hate those plastic ones.

If the Chief doesn't have a bar for you, Dave has them here:

Very nice score. Maple neck and a black body always looks great together.

                      Nice score!

                      1987 or 88 model.
You can tell by the (R) trade mark on the headstock.
Look at the back of the tuners & see how they are marked.
                      If Jackson(TM) it's an 87.
                      If Jackson(R) could be either.

If its tough, shreds, and screams, Its all good.
If it gets jacked, I'll get another one.
