  • Pickp identification help please. J80C or J90C? Charvel Model 5

    Hi folks

I have a bridge and neck pickup that I removed from my 1986 Charvel Model 5 some time ago.
I can not determine if they're J80c or J90c so any help would be appreciated!

Would anybody be able to advise what sort of resistance figure I should be getting when checking with a multimeter for a healthy pickup?

            Thanks

Here is a little google that Metalhobo left out

The Jackson J-80C is a high output ceramic magnet humbucking pickup. It's ideally suited for lighter bodies.

As stated above should be J-80C. metalhobo and John have you right on the specs. Here's a page out of the Jackson electronics catalog with some of the pickup specs including the J-80C. I like the J-80C as much as I like the J-90C. My 3DR has a J-80C and it just kills.

I was the guy who bought this pickup few weeks ago....in short ten years ago a friend o'mine wanted a 50BC for his model 6, and I foolishly sold it taking it off from my Soloist Professional. Now I would like to bring her stock but I couldn't find one at decent price, however this lad sold me this 80C, not sure it came with Soloists however hopefully I will appreciate it.

Oh man I had bought a brand new Charvel Model 5 with the Kahler tremelo in Red with the Tweed case..this was in 1987 and it came from IMC Music in Fort Worth when I lived there..that is one of many guitars I wish I have never sold..my friends from way back then still talk about how Badass that guitar was.
