Was looking through old catalogs for some Fusion info and stumbled upon this:

Look at page 29. There's picture of Adrian Smith playing a Jackson that looks very much(not exactly) like his eventual signature model. This was the 1990-91 catalog. Maybe like pianoguyy alluded to Adrian had been linked to the Jackson brand so Charvel maybe wouldn't have made as much sense.

They both had stratheadstock Jackson back in the Day at the end of 80s. I think Adrian had several and They both used them alot on tours around the seventh son of a seventh son album/tour nd even after that.

That photo was my introduction to Charvels, it comes from the Somewhere In Time tour programme that I've still got somewhere. Charvels were mythical beasts over here in the UK at that time, I never actually saw one for real until the Model series came out. And I've still only seen a handful of USA ones over here in all these years, even regularly trawling the big London music shops: eventually got one, I did a gig a few years back and the sound engineer went "wow, you've got a USA Charvel".

On the Somewhere In Time tour Adrian just played his Jackson, not that Charvel. Seen Maiden many time over the years and never seen him play a Charvel on stage.
