  • Anyone else wish the new Demmelition model was 24.75" scale.

I've been kinda wanting an Explorer shaped guitar lately. Not a Kelly but a more traditional Explorer shape. Been kicking around a BYO kit and reshaping the neck to match my fusion's profile. Then I stumble upon this Demmeltion model and think cool an explorer shape from Jackson and neck through. Then I look at the specs and it's 25.5" scale. Disappointed. I guess it's 'cause it's a signature model and that's what he plays, but I've just fell in love with my fusion and want an explorer in that scale and a Jackson neck profile. Oh well a kit is cheaper anyway.

I haven't seen a new Demmelition model in person yet but would like to try it. I've had a couple explorer projects built by GMW, including my Dez red/black explorer where I sent Lee a Charvel model 4 neck and he built a J/C explorer around that. You could look into something like that and have GMW build an explorer using a fusion neck.

I saw your thread on that and it was pretty sweet. I actually have a fusion neck I could use but I kinda wanted a set neck like the Gibson or a neck through would be even better. That's why I was looking at kits. Looks like GMW does nice work, but I think I really want to try to build one myself.

Have you checked out a Chapman ghost yet? It's an explorer shape and has a 24.75" scale. I was able to play one of the Pro models at Guitar Center and liked how it played and felt. Here's a link to the Fret V2 model and the Pro model at MF.

Those look pretty nice. I went to their site and checked out the specs and I think I want a thinner neck though. I'll have to check my neck measurements I took off my spare Fusion neck when I get home. My best bet may be to go with a bolt on like you did and just use my fusion neck. How do you like the explorer style with a bolt on. I know some of the pre lawsuit LTD's were bolt on. I may have the potential to be coming into some black walnut that I could use for a body blank. I know I'm all over the map I've just gotten hung up on the way the Fusion neck feels.
