Re: Minorities and Jacksons

The only black female I can think of who had a guitar endorsement deal (and was prominently used in ad campaigns) was the woman who plays guitar in the David Letterman Band... Felicia something.

She was endorsed by Hamer. Jennifer Batten had a deal with Ibanez for awhile, but she's pretty pale. I think the girls in Vixen were sponsored by Aqua Net

One of the main reasons I continue to practice::
TONY MACALPINE.
He has been with Aria, BC Rich, Kramer (I think) and now Carvin but I thought I would mention him. He is at the top of the mountain I am frantically trying to climb.

Joe, I actually had the pleasure of seeing both Spacey T & Vernon Reid not too long ago! Spacey's playing w/ Fishbone (awesome band BTW), who I saw open for King's X last year. And I just saw Vernon w/ Living Colour about two weeks ago. They both should be playing Jacksons!!! Vern's still playing his Hamer's, and Spacey was using a Parker Fly. Both of those guys are killer musicians.

I discovered Macalpine back when I was in college, and he is F*n awesome. I could never-ever hope to be .0000001th as good as he is. Simply incredible!!!

Oh, and let's not forget Greg Howe! I had a chance to see him play back when he was doing the band thing(Howe II)with his brother. Killer!!! And his fusion stuff is way over my head. I am completely inspired by all these guys!!

> On the Spacey T note,I read somewhere WAY back in the day that Spacey had the absolute first ever Soloist, the red one with the hand written logo he's holding in the old "Success" group pic that was used in an early ad. I want to say the first time I actually saw him play was with Fishbone on SNL,doing Sunless Saturday. Whoever it was had what looked like a Model 2 with reverse head,Charvel logo, and an OFR with the Rising Sun graphic. They smoked! Tommy D.

Re: Minorities and Jacksons

I thought Ernie C used a Les Paul? Though I confess I didn't follow the band (I always believed and still do that rap and metal were never meant to mix)

Anyone remember the day leather was dropped from the Metal stage gear? When Kool and the Gang (or was it some other black soul/funk group?) showed up on MTV wearing leather and spikes ala Judas Priest
Leather became un-Metal right then.

As for chicks with C/Js, there's a pic of the bassist from Phantom Blue in the 1990/91 catalog holding a Model 3B or something.

As far as I recall, Ernie C used Moser guitars.

Anyone else out there like Jon Butcher? Don't recall ever seeing him with a J/C but I think the dude is pretty incredible.

How about Eric Gales? Not a Jackson guy but a mighty fine player!

Flavor Flav and Chuck D were in the video for "Bring The Noise" which featured Jackson guitars. Do they count?

I think PE's work is pretty heavy stuff, personally. Both content and style.
