Yep. And now I'm sitting here looking at that pic wondering "Why the fark did they put 3 pickup selector switches in that thing with 2 humbuckers ???" I put the Duncans in it as I received it with EMG Selects. Now I don't even remember how I have it wired, LOL.

what really stands out too, is the pearl in the 15th fret.

I'm sitting here holding the catalog in my hand. Woodgrain looks like it matches.

No, but knowing Grover Jackson's relentless pursuit for perfection, I'm sure they are great.

Don't know anything about ProTec cases. Looks like Guitar Center/Musician Friend(same company) carries the ProTec line.

I have the 56th model 6 made. Mine had no logos on the pickups but had a cover on the brdige pickup, I've been told now that it looked like it was refretted (had to be before may of 88) but mine doesn't have the binding tabs over the frets that maybe from the refret and mine has 2 black switches one looks like it was replaced. For sure it came before mine. I doubt though that they would put a usa made guitar in the catalog for the MIJ ones. That would be something Kramer would have done. It's probably the prototype the Japanese factory made for Grover to show him what they could do.

Entirely possible. It's either a 1985 USA San Dimas prototype or a 1985 Japanese prototype.

                                However, given the :
                                1. binding over frets
                                2. USA-style tuners
                                3. USA-style fretboard length
                                4. G&G Case
                                5. metal control cavity covers

I'm betting it was made here in the USA.

By the way, lookie what UPS just dropped off a few minutes ago
