  • Color Code Question

I have a 1994 Jackson Kelly Pro and according to the catalog scan the color code is SGM. I've been trying all day to figure out what that stands for. It's a beautiful metallic green and I've seen another in the same color but he used MF (metal flake) green in the description. Anybody have an idea?

    Sparkle Green Metallic?
    Shitty Green Metallic?

I dunno. Most of the color codes I've seen were self-explanatory - DMB=Dark Metallic Blue, xGF for the various Ghost Flames, GMG=Gun Metal Grey, etc.

I think it's Sparkle Green Metallic.

Even then, though, Sparkle and Metallic are redundant. Sparkle indicates to me the really flashy "big flake" metalflake, as opposed to the smaller-flake glitter used in metallics. Pearl colors use a very fine-cut glitter, almost like dust.

Maybe it's Slime Green Metallic? But that would make it a really vivid green metallic IMO. Can't say I've ever seen this particular color, at least that I'm aware of.

Post a daylight pic, if you can.

I don't have time to look now, but if you can find Henrik's awesome catalogue site (audiozone.dk), search for the '94 catalogue and check out the back pages. They often have a key for the colour codes in the last couple of pages of the catalogue. If not in the '94, you might find it other years.

Just went through the 94/95 catalog and found the entry. Sure enough, SGM is listed for the Kelly Pro, but there's no description.

But there is SSM listed for the Collen, which was Silver Sparkle Metallic, so it looks like I was wrong - it may indeed be Sparkle Green Metallic.

And after clicking the link Warlok posted - yep, I'd definitely say it was Sparkle Green Metallic. Looks like it's got both the larger Sparkle flakes and the smaller Metallic flakes. Never seen such clear pics of any of the Sparkle Metallic finishes before. Usually just catalog pics and those "here's the whole guitar, and my entire car in the background, taken with my phone" pics

Thanks for the replies everyone. I finally came across the 94 Price List and found the color codes description. Indeed it's Sparkle Green Metallic. Although Shitty Green Metallic was a strong possibility.
Yes warlok that's the color. Fortunately mine still has black hardware. That poor guitar.
If I figure out how I'll post a pic of it. I've had it since 94 and finally played a gig with it Friday. Oh how it sparkled in the stage lights.
