  • Custom Shop mistake

    Hello everybody,
I'm new here, nice to meet yuo!
I'm little bit confused about the affair below.

I'm going to buy a Custom Shop guitar from a guy that lives near me, plate guitar shows the following serial number: 9985.

I have texted to charvel costumer service and they told me that the serial number 9985 comes back as a custom shop, trans black 2H, made in 1/2016 BUT with a C in front, so C9985.

There isn't any C in my case, what's wrong with this serial number?
I don't thik that the guitar is a replica, it's made with very fine woods and also the quality of built assembly looks great.

    I don't understand...
    Someone can help me please?
    Thank you
    Andrea

Welcome to the forum. Serial number looks legit to me. I can't remember ever seeing anything with a C before it, but maybe they just have it in their logs that way. It does say Custom Shop on the headstock and looks good.

No worries. C = Charvel, for the company's record-keeping purposes. It doesn't actually appear on the serial number plate. They likely do this to simply distinguish from Jackson bolt-on custom guitars, which use similar serial number conventions. Those obviously have Jackson logo'd neck plates, though.
