  • Gary Richrath Dies at 65

Original lead guitarist, Gary Richrath of REO Speedwagon died yesterday at age 65. What a loss. His replacement since at least 1989 was Dave Amato, a long time Jackson user and a fine player, but it was Richrath who really put in the power leads REO is known for. Crank up the solo on "Take it on the Run" if you forgot. RIP
    "Got a crazy feeling I don't understand,
    Gotta get away from here.
Feelin' like I shoulda kept my feet on the ground
Waitin' for the sun to appear..."

Love that song and his solo. Sad. He had some kick ass Les Pauls.

They really nailed the whole "arena-rock" thing.

            RIP

                  ah that's too bad.

my cover band does Roll with the Changes.

Gary put some killer solos and riffs on that one, I love playing it.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

The only thing I liked about REO were the tasty solos..

                    That blows.
