  • best guitar tones of all time?

What's your favourite tone/tones you really like? Doesn't matter the genre. I'll get us started with something a little outside my realm of expertise

    Post multiple!

Yeah I like Sultans and Coma a lot.

For a classic rock guitar tone, I loved the Darkness "Permission to Land" album.

For thrash, Annihilator's "Never, Neverland" album does it for me.

Exodus' Force of Habit album was always one of my favorites, anything from that album. Gary Holt sure knows how to get awesome guitar tone! This song makes me want to try monkey soup!

Loved the guitar tones on Carcass Heartwork cd. Sonically is one of the best sounding death metal albums still.

I dont get scared but i do get shocked!!

Just some...player or bands with consistently great tones.

I think my favorite recorded guitar tone period, and mix on an album.

Then, let's face it, anything by these guys.

This is my absolute favourite. But then again it could just be the superb mixing. It's soooo clean.

So clean, so heavy, so defined. But then again, Jeff Loomis plays so perfectly you wouldn't expect any less.

                        "Dear Dr. Bill,
I work with a woman who is about 5 feet tall and weighs close to 450 pounds and has more facial hair than ZZ Top." - Jack The Riffer

"OK, we can both have Ben..joint custody. I'll have him on the weekends. We could go out in my Cobra and give people the finger..weather permitting of course.." -Bill Z. Bub

How could I forget ROBIN TROWER?
I feel ashamed. Bridge of Sighs is just a masterpiece in guitar dynamics

I was going to post some Akira Takasaki stuff too, but I see Loudness had been covered. I always preferred his earlier tone, but thats probably because I was listeningto it around the time it came out so I experienced and was exposed to it in chronological order.

Here is my all time favorite Akira song, Tusk of Jaguar. It sounds pretty thin by todays standards but it was recorded in 1981 or 82 I believe.

I've always loved the tone on this Accept song, but Wolf always has a great lead tone on any song.

My favorite Yngwie tone. So huge, yet so distinctly single coil.

For Blues, Gary Moore for me is the pinnacle tone, followed by SRV but they are almost polar opposite tones hehe.

These days it doesn't get any heavier than Loomis.

I might add more if the whim strikes me later.
