Hi everyone,
I just got one of these for my son the drummer. I cannot believe how quick he picked up guitar. After 6 months he is past my level of playing, lol. Anyway, I had a dead 1X12 Vypyr sitting around. I picked up the Crate amp and a Celestion Rocket 50 for cheap. I mounted the amp in the combo shell and swapped out the Peavey Blue Marvel.
I also dropped some EL34 love into the amp instead of the 6's. I put in a Ruby reverb as well. After playing the amp for awhile, I am quite satisfied with it for his first tube amp. It will be his birthday present in two weeks. It has that Megadeath type distortion sound and pretty good sounding clean side. I found out it was modified by a well known amp maker here locally, so it doesnt sound like the stock amp at all.
