  • pickup swap?

So, i put an evolution in the bridge of my kelly pro when i got it, like it, thinking of going actives though

anyone have any opinions on doing dual emg 85x's ? or maybe just 85's with 18 volt mod?

No...but I'm running dual 85s in my Dinky XL. Love it!

I had blackouts in mine, and swapped them for the 81 and 85 set. Blackouts sound great in my DK2T, they were just to dark in the Kelly. The EMGs are brighter, and work better in the Kelly.

I've had Blackouts and an EMG. I'll always prefer passives. If you want a hot bridge pickup check out the Bill Lawrence USA 500XL, it's fucking awesome (well, mine is anyway) or the Duncan Distortion.

85's with the 18V mod should be easy to wire. I haven't tried the x series yet but all I have is guitars with passives presently and I have found the perfect pickups for each of them so I will not be changing them.

            No, mine is too.

It fills the passive gap of where EMG's usually fit in, Thrash Metal.

I have a Model 6 with a 85 in the bridge with the 18v mod and it sounds awesome. And to be clear I dont like active pickups they always sound too sterile to me and I like the 85 with the 18v mod.
