  • Changing pickup coil color

Is there anyway to age/color white pickup bobbins to creme? I have a Duncan 50 that's no longer white, but still miles away from creme. Is there any method of getting the color closer that is permanent? I hear of using coffee grind/tea leaves, among other things.

    Whatcha got?

I use really strong coffee, but only on pickup covers, switch tips etc. I've never submerged a wound and waxed pickup though. If the coffee is cold, so it doesn't melt the wax, I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem.

      Pete,

Let me know what you come up with. I have some white pickups as well.

I've heard to lightly scuff the plastic (high grit sandpaper / steel wool) so that the aging liquid can get some bite.
