  • If I bought a Dinky body....

would I need to buy a 24 fret neck?

I'm looking at buying a (supposed) Jackson body. I'm not sure what model it's from, but I have all the parts I'd need to finish it off, apart from the neck.

I'd like to buy it, and use a (copy) strat neck on it, as I like the look of a strat style headstock on a superstrat body.
But would a 21 fret neck work on a body designed for 24 or even 22 frets?

It should work for a22 fret neck pocket but it won't intonate properly on a 24 fret pocketed body.

Depends. Early Dinkys were 22 frets and later ones were 24.

I believe a Strat neck also has a heel size of 2 & 3/16" compared to the 2 & 1/4" of the Dinky.

Doh! I knew it was beyond me! I saw the body and cos I have a JT580 sitting in a box thought it might be cool to try and make something up, but it's really not gonna be cost effective, and I'll likely make an arse of it!
