floyd nut ?

does a 1 3/4" with close spacing exist. if not which 1 11/16 one should i go its. the guitar has a 1 3/4" nut with binding.

Google "R5" on ebay, but a lot of guys use an "R4" on the 1 3/4" slot (ala Warren Demartini)

I currently have the same situation. There isn't an R5 1 3/4 nut with narrow spacing. Everyone recommends replacing it with an R4 nut. I just got it today and will be installing it this weekend.

cool thats what i thought, can i use a new nut with a bolt thru neck setup, or do i need to find an older one.

You want a bottom mount(neck thru) locking nut, as opposed to a top mount. You can still find them new. Try ebay or I know guitarpartsresource.com has them.
