floyd rose help!

Just tried to change the strings on my new 6string Xiphos and am running into problems . I've tightened the tremolo screws as far as they can go but my bridge is still riding to high. I'm using D'darrio .10-46s tuning in E standard. I've never had this problem before so I have no idea what to do. Help!

I'll assume this is not your first Floyded guitar, and say maybe you should see if the actual inserts for the trem posts are not pulling up out of the body.

They could have been forced out of the wood by the back-pull of the trem if you changed the strings all at once.

Unless of course you mean the tail end is pulling up too far, leaving the bridge not parallel to the surface of the body (nosediving into the body?).

If you went from 9s to 10s, tightening the spring claw screws in the back should help, unless you're only using 2 springs in which case that's not enough to counter the string tension. Add another spring and adjust the claw.

Yeah the bridge is pulling up too far. I've tightened the spring claw screws all the way and they can't tighten anymore. And I'm using 3 springs. Should I add a 4th? I've never had this much trouble before it sucks.

Springs could be shot.
Add a 4th spring or get a new set.

I added a 4th spring and everything is all good now! Thanks guys! I didn't think it even had anything to do with the springs because I only have 3 on my King V using .11-56s.

You might be able to get away with using 3 springs again if you angle them like this:

Thats what I do and it works perfect.

Or try this one:

I use that method as well. I generally try to use the least amount of springs as possible.

You could also buy some new ones and use 2 new and 1 old one, or 1 new and 2 old ones. Might take a few combinations but you can generally get it working good with 3 springs.

i've had that problem before and all i did was loosen all the strings and tighten them back and everything leveled out just fine.
