  • Buzzing EMG's?

Hey guys...just put a pair of EMG's in my Soloist, and they sound awesome. However, when I kick my Marshall JVM into channel 3 or 4 (the highest gain channels), I get a buzzing when the volume on the guitar is off...and this buzzing gets less bad when I touch a volume knob or the tone switch. Is this a ground issue that I need to get fixed, or is it just due to the fact that the JVM is a very noisy amp (it was intolerable with passives)? I had the pickups installed for me, so I hope it wasn't crappy workmanship...!

    Thanks!

Sounds like a ground issue. I can't recall off-hand but (I think) you have to ground them a certain way.

yes, you have to disconnect the ground to strings. you know, the souldered wire on the spring claw. remove that completely or disconnect it from the knobs and tape it to the side walls securely.

Thanks...I'll see if they left that in there.

Yep, the only grounding you need to do is to ground the outer mesh of the pickup wires. You'll see what I mean when you look inside.
