  • FYI: "Post pics of...." and "who has a..."

Everyone loves Jackson and Charvel porn, no doubt, and this is not meant as a slam against anyone, but there's a few things everyone needs to know before posting requests for certain shots, specifically limited edition will-never-be-made-again runs:

First, aside from any prototypes, all guitars in a limited run (such as the JCF runs) are identical. Seen one, seen them all.

Secondly, and probably the most important, is that many of these are owned by "professional collectors", and have pretty much had to disappear from the public eye to avoid the flood of "hey dood, sell me that sweet axe for a cheap proce cuz I'm a poor college student on a budget" blah blah blah.

As well, a few collectors were given a hard time for owning so many guitars, especially for owning so many of ONE run (the grief Brett received over his LTD collection springs to mind).

Again, not bashing anyone for asking for pics, but please remember that many collectors want their collections to remain anonymous to cut down on the noob-mail.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

The most human thing we can do is comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.

This may or may not be aimed at me, but I have a feeling it is because of the 'Big Red' thread that I started.
I totally agree with you because I'm sure that a fair amount of the 'noobness' that you described has taken place and probably still does.
My intentions were not directed in that manner, I was merely praising and admiring the Big Red for what it is. It's a piece of artwork no doubt about it. I am surprised that such a thread had not already existed prior to mine.

They are limited edition, and yes some are probably owned by collectors. You are right, they are all the same, so if you see one you've seen them all, that's a fact.

I meant no harm like I said, and this is only for the admiration of this particular guitar line, nothing else. Most of the information was already on here, just not all compiled into one thread. So if a noob was to nag or hassle someone, they probably would have by now. Even so, I cannot control that. I can only hope this thread does not spark an epidemic.

I even stated that I knew of 2 more Big Red's but I did not post the #'s to allow those owners to remain anonymous if they wish.

Same as the ones who did post, they did that only to share with everyone, and on their own accord I hope.

And not everyone has to post a picture you're right, hell they didn't really have to give their #, but I though it would be cool to see just how many there were, so I complied the #'s into a list.

I am trying to be cautious about this thread and not put anyone out there, that was on my conscious from day one. I really hope that we all remain mature and respectful to everyone on here, because each of us expect the same from everyone else.
For the most part, this board is very mature and respectful of one another, so I really don't foresee and problems arising.

This was a good post Newc, and I don't take offense. Matter of fact I agree with you.

It must be easy....if you don´t want to share you don´t post and nobody should blame you for that decision...

"seen one, seen them all"...., sorry but that is not entirely true....since different people takes pics in different quality and angles you can present the same guitar in many ways.., when you fall in love with a certain guitar you sometimes need to see as many different shots as possible to feed the passion for that particular guitar...

Sometimes the pics of a certain guitar are spread out in the entire Forum and not all of them are easy to find if they are posted rapidly into one thread or if the pics are lost when people change/ delete the URL direction so compiling them(for those who want to) into one thread makes perfect sense IMO..

...and I do respect those who don´t want to show of there special guitars to avoid crazy people and protect their collection.....makes perfect sense also...

I agree. If people don't want to show them in order to avoid any "harrassment"... then they don't have to. Other than that.... bring on the guitar porn.

May I add that is useless to quote a whole series of pics and then comment "cool axe!" or something similar. Just say which guitar you're talking about and don't quote all the pics.

I can appreciate the foundation of this thread, but on the other side of the coin, many people like to show theirs off as well and seems to be no harm in at least politely asking.
