  • Metal Pup for Alder

Lookin for suggestions for a metal pickup to put in my project trans green (maple top??) PS-4,

i play through an old peavey "butcher" tube amp with a quartet of hard Electro-Harmonix 6L6 EH's, 12AX7EH pre amp tubes, and B-52 cab with 2 12" 70W celestion vintage 30's, electro harmonix metal muff

    any suggestions, prefer passive pickups

i was thinking Dimarzio Evo-2 and a 1 meg pot

I'll probably get dogged for this, but I've had a JB now in my SL2H for almost a year, and I still dig it. I've heard a lot of people say it works great with alder, and I agree.

leaning toward the evo-2 still, should have the nuts to overdrive the old peavey, esp. with a 1meg pot and metal muff

the X2N looks attractive as well

i'd try a dimarzio super 3 or tone zone with a 500k pot. and i'd make sure to put a 500k tone pot with a .022 capacitor aswell.

DiMarzio, an X2N, Super Distortion or Tone Zone.

Duncan, a Parallel Axis Distortion (PATB-2) or an Invader.

Dimarzio Super 3, all the way. I cant believe how much I love this thing in my SL1. The sustain is ridiculous.

i have to dissagree. Arch Enemy is nothing but old school riffs tuned down to C. play any of their riffs in standard tuning and you'll hear all the songs they ripped off from the 80's.
