  • Graphtech Piezo/MIDI pickups for Floyd trem

    Hey,

Everybody probably already knew about this before me, but I just got an e-mail from Graphtech on their new Ghost Piezo setup for FR trems. I don't know about you, but I'm pretty excited about this!

"With so many loyal Floyd Rose® shredders, Graph Tech took pains to ensure its GHOST for Floyd Rose® electronics tracks as fast as the fingers of the famous tremolo’s most prolific users. Because the Floyd Rose® Tremolo encourages experimentation with sound, its users can expect to take their play or performance to a whole new level with the midi and acoustic features of Graph Tech’s industry-leading GHOST system.
The complete system for Floyd Rose® includes GHOST String-Saver™ pickup saddles, Acousti-Phonic pre-amp, Hexpander pre-amp, switches to go from electric to acoustic sound, or from guitar to midi sound, volume pots, and momentary up/down program selector. MSRP for Graph Tech’s GHOST® LB63 for Floyd Rose® ranges from USD $299.95 to $319.95.

I got this email from them today, too. Looks interesting. Ibanez did it awhile ago on one of their Edge trems, so it was only a matter of time before someone else did it.

About time - now what about Schaller JT590-type saddles?

no dive bombing with those piezos though - they'll lose contact with the bridge.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

I knew you would like these, Matt!

I hope they're not graphite saddles like their regular Floyd saddles, because those things crack very easily!

Hmm. Yeah, you may be right.

I think it was Shadow that just recently came out with a tiny acoustic pickup that mounts in the end of the fingerboard, called the NanoMag, which is stock equipment ont he Epiphone LP Ultra II. If this Graphtech thing doesn't work out, maybe that's the answer (I only want it for acoustic emulation, not MIDI).

If it goes just after the neck it wont have the twink and shine that the normal piezos have inther the bridge or not?
