  • Wiring Help

I'm currently using a JB in the bridge in place of the X2N (looking to even upgrade to a Custom perhaps). I'm keeping the DiMarzio Norton Air in the neck, however, which presents a bit of a problem; I'm having a hard time finding a diagram that caters to my setup. Everything's working save for the volume knob on the bridge PU.

Duncan humbucker in the bridge, Dimarzio humbucker in the neck, 2 volume, 1, tone, 3-way blade.

    Help please?

Why are you having a hard time? Wire your DiMarzio as you normally would and the same with the SD.. My DXMG I put a Dimebucker in the bridge and kept the EMG-HZ in the neck and it works fine.

Yes. DiMarzio and Duncan use different colour wiring.
          Fuck knows why.

So, juding by that color chart from D_R, the duncan should setup should be: green and bare to ground, red and white soldered and taped off, and black is the "output" that goes to your pot. The dimarzio setup should be black and bare to ground, green and white soldered and taped, and red is the "output" or what you'll solder to the pot.

Anyone feel free to correct me if Im wrong

Sounds right to me. If they sound out of phase when both on. (thin and weak sounding)
Switch the black and green wires positions on the duncan so the black becomes ground and the green is hot. everything else stays the same.
But even if ya hooked the wrong wire to the switch or the pot. Ya should still get some sound out of it. So either its a bad connection or a bad pot.

On the dimarzio I always put the black and white together.

Actually upon re-reading that. On the Dimarzio. I remember like this. Opposites attract at christmas So Black and white together and taped. Green to ground and red to output.
I know its a cheesy phraase but it helped me to remember the wiring on Dimarzio's

I hate sounding like such an ignorant putz but all this terminology helps me not when I'm slaving over a color diagram. Electronics is a topic of discussion I pray never comes up while in the company of a fellow guitarist.

If memory serves, one thing that stood out, the DiMarizo in the neck is wired to the bridge volume in conjunction with it's respective knob. I'm at my mom's house right now because I lack internet at home, so I don't have my guitar in front of me as a reference.

take a picture of the wiring for us. When you swaped pups the only wires that are diffrent on the two are dimarzio black becomes red with seymour duncans.
