  • Help... Fret Buzzing on my 12 string

I have a Yamaha 12 string and the first fret started buzzing.
I have no idea what changed, but it's so bad I can't play it.

Dose any one have any ideas?

Kind of a vauge discription.Which strings are buzzing?be more specific.
Look to see if the first fret has lifted. What condition is the nut in?
    Really? well screw Mark Twain.

It's the high E strings, the nut looks like it's in real good shape and the fret dose not look like it has risen any. Do you won't a picture? I can't see any thing wrong.

      Thanks.

Post a pic that will help a lot.You may just need to adj the truss rod.

I was looking at it today and if I push down any of the strings from the 4th fret down it buzzes. If I do need to adjust the truss rod which way do I turn it?

          Heres some pictures.

loosen strings, go 1/4 turn to the R on the truss rod, and tune up again and try it.

you may have to do this 2x in order to eliminate the buzz.

I would do as skorb suggests.

                    +2

Looks like some backbow on the neck.

Since turning to the right can be turning to the left, depending on how you look at the guitar (or politics), think of it this way...

The truss rod acts just the opposite of the strings.

Strings pull to bend the neck towards them

The truss rod bends it the other way, to compensate.

So... sight down the neck, all four ways (bridge to headstock, High E, and Low E, then also take a quick look from headstock to bridge, each side).

Make a decision... are the strings pulling the neck so much that its curved too much, or... is the truss rod so tight that the strings can't pull a small amount of curve into the fretboard?

Note: This slight curve is good, and called relief... good for strings that wobble back and forth, and need some room to do so.

Tighten truss rod to counter string tension, loosen to let the strings have their way.

Now, if you think John McCain is a conservative... there is just no way to make that make any sense at all... and I can't explain it without some really good drugs, and Mitt telling me it's OK.

Oh, wait, he did that... ok, I give up!

                        hehehe

"Wow,... that was some of the hardest rockin ever. Hardest to listen too."

Looking down the neck from the headstock turn the nut to the left that should put some relief in the neck.
