  • Duncan Pup ID help, please

This came on one of the Squiers I bought. I already checked the back but there are no stickers. Any idea what it may be. Thanks

Is it a worthy transplant into my black Model 1?

that is subjective. Invaders are okay. I'm sure there are others here that will like them more than I do.

Of course it is. It sounds pretty good in the Squier. I want to put a new pup in the Mod 1 and this one is here already. I guess the real question is: Is this a value added or just a nevermind?

                      Well you're a lot of help:ROTF:

How can we tell if it's better than what you got if you don't know what you got?

I think it's handy to have one of every pickup in every guitar. The trick is figuring out which pickups work best in which guitars.

I haven't had an Invader in decades, but I would like to get one again someday.

The Invader sounds MUCH better with hex poles. The button head poles make the Invader way too muddy even with 1 meg ohm pots. The poles from a Dimarzio Super Distortion or Super III are the exact type you'd need to swap out. The difference is dramatic and everyone that's tried it likes it over the stock Invader. Try it.

How involved is the process of changing polepieces?

...depends on how well you can unscrew. seriously, it's not tough, just unscrew the poles and transplant them.
