  • amp help: volume drop outs

    vague enough title for ya?

the sound on my Laney TF300 combo will intermittently drop out. I've found that jumpering the loop seems to help, so I figure that it's something to do with the loop jacks.

Is there an easy (and hopefully super cheap) way to fix this?

Without taking it apart / replacing the (supposedly bad) jack?

Spray some contact cleaner in there and massage (!) the hell out of that jack by inserting and pulling out a jack connector. But I'd take it apart

Yeah, lube it up and give it the old in-and-out

thanks guys. Yea Henrik, I'm all about the quick fix. If I can avoid disassembly, I'd prefer it. will give the jack a good massaging and let you know how I got on.

If putting the cord in the loop fixes it, don't sweat it, unless you're going to sell the amp. It won't hurt anything to leave a cord in there.
