  • ID my Jackson Bridge

What model is my Jackson licensed tremblo? This is off a Kelly Custom out of Ontario, circa 1992. There is no extra recessed cavity.

Question: If i go with an original Floyd is it a direct swap? Can i use the exiting posts and locking nut?

By this looks of this bridge. I believe that it is indeed a direct swap. The dimensions appear to be similar to the Original Floyd.

That looks like a JT-590, made by Schaller. It is almost identical to Schaller's own Floyd design, and is considered just as good as an OFR. I still use the stock 590 on my 750XL, and it still works great.

To answer your question; Yes, since the trem isn't recessed, you should be able to put an OFR there. However, you may have to adjust the saddles abnormally far back to get it to intonate, since the OFR usually sits a little closer to the neck (due to its baseplate design). If you play downtuned with really thick strings, you may run into the problem that you can't adjust the saddles far enough back.

If I were you, I'd put another Schaller unit on there.
