  • Kahler spyder

I have bought a MIJ strat fitted with a Kahler spyder, in chrome finish; I was wondering if I could replace it with a black coloured variation.

Did kahler make a black one? would something else retrofit? ie OFR ... I am under the impression that a Spyder has its knife edges on the studs as opposed the baseplate so this may rule such out.

    please assist a strat newbie..

Yes, they were available in black, in fact were much more common in black.

As for an OFR swap, the stud spacing is identical (I just measured one), so it should work.
    Sleep!!, That's where I'm a viking!!

As long as you use Floyd-type studs

Yes. I didn't think it needed to be said.

As mentioned, yes available in black, and yes studs have the knife edges. I used to have a Peavey Tracer with the Spyder:
