  • Question about Speed Mechanics

So 1st lesson learned something new that I was doing wrong...as you play the notes in one position using 1-2-3-4 hammer-on sequence, you should lift the previous finger while hammering-onto the next note.

So it make me wonder about the 4-3-2-1 pull-off sequence which he doesn't explain in such minute detail. Are you supposed to pre fret all 4 frets? Or are you supposed to just-in-time fret the note that you are about to pull off to?

My instinct is to do the former, but hey, I was wrong with the ascending hammer-on sequence.

I "just in time" fret the note I am pulling off to. If you keep your fingers relaxed and close, it's a BREEZE.

Then again..that sort of control if why you are doing it!

You're supposed to pre fret the sequence.

        Alan:

I ran into the same problem! I also posted the same question here. Funny that he didn't explain it better, given how thoroughly he explains everything else in the book.
