  • One possible way to wire a Model 3a

Ok I've asked everyone I know and....well I finally got a clue and went to Charvel/Jackson and asked them.

I didn't like my 3a's switch setup. I was wanting to basically treat the front pickup like 2 separate singles. So I could then have both a full on bridge on one position and also a bridge plus one front coil on another.

I was getting ready to just rip the switch it had and put a strat switch in and just wire it like a strat.

But Fender came to the rescue. I can't get started until tomorrow, but if anyone's interested I can send you the diagram

This is how it will be set up:
    Pos 5 Bridge both coils
    Pos 4 Bridge rear coil
Pos 3 Bridge rear coil & neck front coil
    Pos 2 Neck both coils
Pos1 Bridge both coils & neck front coil

Now I'll get some more tones I couldn't get before. Pretty cool huh?

    Cheers

Mega/Super five-way switches are cool! My Fender Double Fat Strat came from the factory with Duncan Pearly Gates Plus and '59 humbuckers wired like this:

    Full neck humbucker
    Top/outer coil of neck
    Both full humbuckers
    Inner coils of both humbuckers
    Full bridge humbucker
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
