Need some opinion/advice

My model 3a sounds too dark and muddy in all positions except the bridge pup only.

It's got a jt6 trem and j90 (or80) pickups. What do I need to change - the trem or the pickups?

Changing trem would have no or minimal effect compared to swapping out the pickup or changing the settings on the amp. Before doing any of that, try adjusting the height of the neck humbucker.
