the x3 and the 2.0 should sound drastically different from each other.

The Pod 2.0 had fairly poor clean sounds, but great distortion sounds IMHO. Anyone have any experience with the x3 clean sounds?

How are you saying that? have you tried and tested both?

no but i've tried and tested both the 2.0 and XT and they are both drastically different. i would expect the new x3 to be more along the lines of the current XT firmware. maybe the next upgrade up from that. basically moving the x3 closer to the preamp of the vetta.

i could be wrong and it could sound more like the 2.0 but i seriously doubt it.

You know what? I did the same thing. I bought a POD 2.0 and immediately next week, I got a POD XT. Even though the POD XT had better starting points, ultimately, I could get the POD 2.0 to sound almost exactly the same as the XT. Some functions were easier to use on the XT than the 2.0...I'm referring to holding down some button to access presence for example, but they sounded the same to me ultimately. POD 2.0 is still the most selling by line6.

the gt-8 on the other hand is something you should try before passing it on. It sounds so natural, its unbelievable. The 5150 model for example. I used to own a 5150. I used to run an headphone through the line out of an attenuator just to listen to the actual amp without any cabinet coloring and the model on the gt-8 sounds exactly like the real amp. Needless to say, I sold the 5150 after a month of getting the gt-8.
