  • Is it possible for a pickup to be too hot?

I'm building a Jackson mutt. I already have a pair of mighty mite motherbuckers for it. they claim the output is over 21k ohms. My plan was to have just a 1 meg volume pot with no tone. I'm just wondering how much input the amplifier can take?

Yes they can be to hot. Then you lose highs. They can also damage speakers.

You'll be okay. Just don't crank the gain on your amp. Higher output pickups were created to help overdrive older amps easier, but with today's high gain amps, you don't really need real high gain pickups.
