  • JT500, getting old arm off

I want to put a Schaller arm on my JT500, but I am having trouble getting the old mounting part off, is it OK to tap it with a hammer? it seems to be held in with a small lip

    Thanks

The arm socket is made of better metal than the base itself, so be careful.
Grab it with a pair of pliers and pull up while unscrewing it.

Old mounting part? JT500's had the arm screw right into the baseplate iirc?

You have the trem off the guitar right?Turn the base plate upside down and have a solid surface underneath.Take a plastic tipped or brass hamer a small one and take off the collar on the stud so the treads show and tap it out from the backside.
No matter which trem arm assy you have and there were several it shoud tap out from the back side.

The arm socket on a JT500 screws in.
It's not pressed in like the Schallers.
