  • D string unwound while getting put on.

I was changing strings today and my DR 10-46 set had the D string uncoils while I was winding it around the tuning post. This has never happened before. What did I do wrong? How does this even happen??
    Thanks

Happens to me every once in a while, the string is still pretty straight and isn't used to being bent around such a tiny circle, once it's tightly wound up it won't pop off again.

when you want to cut of the wound strings bend them at a 90° angle...
and cut them them (NOT ON THE BENDING POINT!!)
      And wind them then around..
In the pack of the DR strings are instructions for sure...

When I cut them off I always press together the cut end...

I like the feel of DRs much better (when they work :P).
