  • F Space Pick Up Concern

I would sure like to try WCR Shredder pick ups. They do not come F Spaced and Jim at WCR and RS Guitarworks told me its no big deal - that I won't lose any sound because the magnetic field of the pup stretches out 1/4" form the poles.

You guys ever lose sound when trying a non F-Spaced pup?

    Jim's right ... it's no big deal.
At least I've never noticed any difference.

+1. My floyded axes have normal spaced pickups. Works great.

          Yeah, it's really just cosmetic.

I got a normal DiMarzio for a Floyd-equipped guitar by accident last year. I was a bit concerned when I saw the pole pieces and strings didn´t line up perfectly, but there´s nothing in the tone that hints at a mismatch. So yeah, it´s nothing to worry about.

If the Floyd Rose came out in 1977 (I think) and the first F spaced pickups came out in the late 80's, what do you think they did for those first 10 years? Thats right, they used normal spaced pickups.

But I still want F spaced

              I buy into the hype

F-spaced all the way: there's something to be said for refinement.
