  • Kahler 2300 users, help please?

    Hi everyone!

Please, if you are a owner of a kahler 2300 tremolo bridge system could you post pictures and details of the trem route? (from many angles would be good, especially inside the cavity etc, as I am hoping to install one in my charvel model 2 body)

    This'll be much appreciated!

I highly recommend getting an older Charvel with a Kahler already, like this:
      http://cgi.ebay.com/CHARVEL-JACKSON-...QQcmdZViewItem

But if you can't afford that and want to route the body you have then,
buy the routing template from Kahler:
      http://www.kahlerparts.com/Part_Pages/9537.htm

      or from here (bottom right):

      Follow these instructions:
      http://www.wammiworld.com/Installation_guide.html

Pictures from a Phantom Guitar, Earl Slick model, with Kahler Flyer Cam trem, but it should give you the idea.

Mountaindog, thanks for that! It's everything i wanted!
Judging from that template, I wouldn't have to fill in any gaps with wood - would I? Just expand the routing a bit and put two screws on the lower half of the bridge?

Also, may I ask why there's a wire hidden in the cavity under the bridge? :O

        Thanks a lot

          Ground?

Kahler also give away the templates with their catalogues...

I figured I wouldn't have to explain the white wire...lol...but Sanctuary is correct, that wire is the ground wire that would be attached to the Kahler.

You're planning on routing a Model 2 body that currently has a floyd-type trem route, correct? Here's a pic of a strat body with a floyd-type/vintage trem route with added routing for a Kahler:
            http://www.chrisguitars.com/war-stra...hler-route.jpg

If you look close in the above picture link (or save the pic and enlarge it), you can see of the original 6 screw holes for the vintage trem, the right-most hole (small E side of the trem) is slightly enlarged/offset, due to screwing in of one of the front Kahler mount screws. The front two mounting holes of the Kahler 2300 should fall somewhere in that area ahead of the route, (inbetween the two bushings on your body), so you should still have some wood available to sink the front screws into.

I put a Kahler 2300 on a Model 1 back in 1989 (don't ask ...I wanted a single hum/maple board Kahler). The only issue was that the frame of the Kahler didn't completely cover the right side of the original trem route in the body, so there was a visible gap in that area.
