• Otto, Hossman, Robert Witte, Yogadork - Q&A

Ok guys, I'm asking you, because you seem like the most knowledgeable and / or interested in the earlier Charvel guitars.

(If anyone else can contribute, you are certainly more than welcome!)

Do any of you know when Charvel used rosewood dots on maple board guitars, or maple dots on rosewood boards?

I don’t think they used any wood dots on ebony boards.

Was this an Azusa (pre-San Dimas / Grover) era only feature?

Were these Boogie bodies, Wayne, or Schecter made necks?

Thanks for the help!!!!

Those guys along with Bret and Tracy hang out more frequently at the Charvel Central Forum and should be able to answer these questions. Best board for USA Charvel related info as well as Brets site...lot of great stuff and drool material too

Charvel did use rosewood dots on maple boards. I havent seen the other options you were asking about personally. They also used brass side markers.-Lou

usually they were Clay dots in most, but i think they were Boogie Bodys/ necks

I have seen several and have my opinions on the matter, but.....

With all due respect, Tracy and Bret have precious little interest in Pre-serialized Charvels. This is evidenced by their minimal representation in their collections. Bret's site does not really address the earliest stuff.

Those other guys hang here.

Ask on Charvel Central, dude. The guys there know a lot more about ANY San Dimas Charvels than most people here, including pre-pro.

I'm Here. Takes me a while to get in I spend time on CharvelCentral and tring to get Jacksoncharvelworld.net site complete (factory tour is back up) Email me if you want
I've seen a lot of clay but I have seen wood also. Boogie body, Schecter & Mighy Mite made necks from all kinds of different woods and markers were just as different. Are you asking about a specific neck or just a year? Wayne did work with all theses necks also was running a custom shop. If you asked him he would most likly get it done for you or find one.

I have seen one maple neck with rosewood dots and one rosewood board with maple dots. Both were pre-serialized guitars. Both were the real deal. Someone has to have seen these.....
