  • BIG PROBLEM!!!! PT2 The Plot Thickens

So I just got my Charvel m6 back from the shop today, good work on it, the nut is cut nicely all is well, however when I start playing it I realize that when I try to bend I experience some turbulance, so I look at the fret, and there are two gashes in the fret, looks like the metal has been cleared to one side, leaving a raise in the fret!!!!! What should I do? I am looking at the cost of a refret and its a bit too much, any suggestions? HELP!!!

yeah, thats about it, its like someone pushed hard on the fret with a screw driver or something, because its smooth and then the metal raises up, I will try to get pics of it

Was it like that before or did the shop fuck it up?!?

its definitely the shops faulty, the thing was completely level on the frets before I sent it in 2 weeks ago

Then take it back to the shop and b1tch that you want it fixed and that you shouldn't have to pay for it.

but would something like that be just a minor job, or a big one? Would they have to do a full refret?

They'd just have to fix or replace that fret if all the others are fine. Shouldn't be that big of a deal.

the only thing I was taking into consideration is that if they replace the fret, wouldnt that put it uneven with the others? those frets have had about 17 years of wear, so wouldnt a new fret mess up the action?

Re: BIG PROBLEM!!!! PT2 The Plot Thickens

If all other frets are in decent condition, then I wouldn't worry about them. They should be able to put a new one in that's similar and just file it down so it's even with the others.

You need to get your frets dressed, the shop should pay.

FIrst they level the frets so they are all even, and then they use a file to round off the top and take care of any imperfections. IF they screwed it up, it shouldn't cost you a dime, but even if you do end up paying, it won't be too much for one fret.
