  • Oiling rosewood?

How would rosewood react to, say, tung oil? Any reasons not to do this? Or, any reasons at all to actually do it?

tung oil....... i suppose you want to seal the wood..........i haven't thought of it.

There's some great information on oiling/cleaning fretboards and a whole lot more in this thread.

you don't want to seal the pores of rosewood. you just want to keep them from drying out. tung oil seals. while good for maple, not so good for rosewood.

get some boiled linseed oil from the hardware store. its cheap and will last for years and years. only oil your neck, maybe 2 times a year or less.
