  • Are Jackson active circuts feedback prone?

I've got a an older (mid-80s) Duncan Distortion in my Soloist Pro.

The damm thing has feedback like crazy, even at low volume.

It's heavily microphonic, I can tap on the body at it'll boom through the amp. Even moving the switch, you hear an amplifed "clunk"

I took this pup out of my Dean, where it was quiet as a mouse.

I personally think my actives are screwed (good battery), properly wired.

Anybody got any suggestions before I rip out the circut and replace with standard pots?

    Hi

I have soloist pro too and it does not have any feedback problems. My band's other guitarist has Charvel model 4 and 475 and those guitars work just fine also. What is in common with these 3 guitars is that they have original Jackson pickups. It could be that SD distortion hooked together with je-1200 midboost is just too hot combination to work well.

Did turning down the boost level have any effect on feedback?

i use a dimarzio evolution (which is an absolut highoutput pup) in combination with the je-1200 mid-boost in my soloist, and no feedback or any noise.
in my 425JW i use a dimarzio super3 with the je-1200 and no problem too.

maybe there is something wrong with the wiring, or the pup is not o.k. anymore.
