  • Truss rod adjustment when changing string gauges on my GMW Jake?

I recently picked up a like-new blueburst GMW Jake on Ebay. It appears to still be in factory set-up mode with .009 gauge strings. The action is just fantastic....plays better than most of the guitars I own.

My preference is for .010 gauge strings with the guitar tuned down a half step. I'm wondering if the truss rod will need any adjustment when changing gauges. (or will the half step down make up for it?) Since the neck has to come off to make adjustments.......I'm a little leary of going into this blindly.

I would appreciate any insight anyone could give me.

you may have to tighten it slightly if the lowered pitch/thicker strings pulls the headstock up, but you may just be okay. string it up and give it a bit to react. if anything a slight (1/8 to 1/4) turn is all you'll need.
