  • Model 2/3 Kahler - tremspaced or not

Do the 86 Model 2/3s with the Kahler bridge require trem-spaced pickups or not?

I have both a Model 2 and 3 and neither of them have the original pickups and the ones in there don't align with all the strings. Never bothered me, but now I'm going to replace one of the pickups and want to know if I should buy a trem-spaced one.

After 24 hours, nobody knows the answer to this?

I think they're standard spacing. I've never owned one with a Kahler, but I believe all the Model series that had the JT-6 Floyd copy were standard spacing, so I would think they'd be the same.

You are talking about the Kahler trem that it's like a floyd or a normal kahler?

I assume he's talking about the Kahler Fulrcum trem shown here.

Yep, Fulcrum 2500 iirc. Specs are here:

            http://www.kahlerparts.com/Other_Pages/Model_Specs.htm

String spacing on that trem is 2.080", so I'd go standard rather than trem spaced (OFR string spacing is 2 1/8"). Joe's right about the JT-6 era Jackson pickups being regular spaced, since the JT-6 has 2" spacing. They also did make F-spaced pickups for the later guitars with the JT-590.

Yes, that was the exact trem I was talking about.

Interesting, I have standard spaced pickups on now and they definitely do not line up with the strings.

              Thanks for the replies.

                Update:

The correct spacing for this bridge is trem-spaced. I just installed a TB-4 and it is the correct spacing for the bridge.
