  • Cleaning rusty pole pieces

Is there any way to remove rust from pickup pole pieces? Is there a need to? Does rust "suck tone" or can it in any other way be detrimental to the pickup?
I guess I could lightly rub the pup with some steel wool but could that damage it?

Never do that! The magnet will pull the parts of steel wool inside the pickup and that can't be a good thing.

    Use some WD-40 on a Q-tip.

Good point about the magnets. HAdn't even thought about that, silly me.
I'll steal some q-tips from my girlfriend then

I had that problem on a couple of old Duncan Invaders. I used an old toothbrush and some WD40 and had great results.

So you're saying I should steal her toothbrush too?

Sure. And get her underwear while you're at it.

I had the same old "Rusty Invader" problem. A q-tip and WD40 as susggested worked well. Well, about 60 q tips actually.

Yep, tried the WD40, worked like a charm.
