  • changing the volumen POT on a DK-2

What volume pot does the DK-2 has factory installed? 250k? 500k?

    Will this pot work?

    Item # 130

Or does the DK-2 needs this one, long shaft pot?
    http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electron...s.html#details
    Item # 3482

In general, guitars without pickguards, need a long-shaft pot?

Thanks for the help, I'm new in this guitar-tech thingie...

The DK2 comes with a 500k volume pot. You do not need the long shaft pots. Those are primarily for arch top guitars like a Les Paul.

      Not true.
Guitars with thick tops (Example: Les Paul or an archtop Soloist) need long shaft pots.
Most guitars use standard length pots.

If you're going to upgrade, spend an extra buck or two and get quality parts.
Get a CTS 500k pot. (regular shaft)

well my guitar "tech" in here told me that it was impossible finding the right potentiometer here since it used a long shaft one... Are you sure all the DK2 come with the standard pot?

They all do. Your "guitar tech" is an idiot.
Here are the specs for a standard CTS 500k pot.

          IT WILL FIT.

            LOL! +1 on that.

Where the hell is "here"? Do you live in the middle of the frozen tundra of Siberia?

On a lighter note, Duncan JB's supposed to sound better when matched to a 250K pot. It will kill some of the highs and fatten it up if it's too bright sounding.

Here is a long shaft pot... trust me... it would look like complete ass in a DK2.

Standard CTS short shaft will work just fine. You will need to enlarge the hole because the CTS shaft is a little larger.
                    Really? well screw Mark Twain.

...And don't buy any pots from Stewmac. They are crap imports I buy tons of luthier stuff from StewMac, but not electronics. Get yourself a CTS pot or a Custom RS Guitar Works CTS pot (better).

I finally beat Straycat to the RS reference. You are slipping my friend

So I'll need to carve the wood? I think that that was my "guitar tech" was refering to, that he needed to carve the wood... What's the exact same pot ?
