I just purchased it recently as I'm planning on painting my next mutt project. Newc should be able to give you an objective review, as will I once all is said and done. After reading thru it, though, seems you can't go wrong using it since each step is thoroughly covered, not to mention the fact that you can contact him directly for advice if you run into any problems.
My future band shall be known as "One Samich Short Of A Picnic"!
He did a column in guitar world. Does that say something?
Go for it dude...
When you find yourself waiting a year for paint to cure, or ...
Find that applying 30+ coats of clearcoat has sucked all the tone from your guitar, or ... learn that anything that comes into contact with your finish will leave impressions (including keeping your guitar in it's case), or ... when the finish begins to shrink and crack all over just months after completing it ...
Don't say you were never told.
BTW .... John G's website clearly states that he no longer offers online support should you have any questions or concerns.
Nuff said.
My guitar needs paint job but, i need to concider my options cos i don´t wanna effect my guitars tone. Thats really important to me. I´m happy to see that there is old catalocs available cos I want original color not custom pain job.

If it's really as easy as he says it is....well....I just can't help but wonder: what would my Tele look like with Lynch Bengal paint?!? Tempting!

I can't believe so many people want a guitar that looks like EVH's frankie.
Have you missed the Charvel gallery on this site?
Personally, I have never understood the idea of copying others instead of creating something truly personal and unique. If I would make a custom paint, it would be custom, that is not something that has been produced before for someone else.

Here's a Wolfgang I recently painted with 2-pac urethane.
It's not a tele, but a similar bodystyle that may give you an idea what it may look like.
Just don't use spraypaint or you will regret it.
