  • Fret extension?

Is it possible to glue two extra frets onto a bolt-on guitar neck? Anyone ever do this?

    It's possible.
You would have to replace the fretboard with a longer one.
Warmoth has been doing it for years.

As far as attaching frets to an existing board... I doubt it would be very stable.

i remember when some one asked that question, i can't remember if it was here or on the ESPee forums, everyone said" go to your local guitar store and ask for a fret board extension........" they guy fell for it and kept asking more questions, like what type of wood is it...........

also, how would you lengthen the board? the humbucker should be right under the last fret.

What I was getting at is Warmoth makes a 24 fret neck that fits on 21/22 fret guitars. They just make the fret board extend out two more frets so it doesn't screw up the intonation.

As for gluing on two more frets to the end of an existing fret board... I'm sure if you doweled it and finished it up properly, it could be done.
I don't know how stable it would be though.

I'd like to keep the original neck on this guitar, but I might try getting two more frets glued at some point. (as it seems cheapest)

I just had a mental image of Newc installing extra frets on the neck pup, between the pups, and then having them keep going all the way to the bridge!
