• Stripping a finish

I'm looking to totally strip the finish off my old faithful Charvel Fusion, and then probably stain and oil the body. Any time I've ever stripped a body before, it always had some trace of paint left, but it didn't matter because I always repainted them. Does anyone know what the process is to strip a body "clean" so it can be stained afterwards?

I use a heat gun and a paint scraper.Apply heat to the finish not too much just enough to loosen the finish then start with the scraper.Be gentle with the scraper just enough to lift the paint off.Take your time and do one section at a time.I have used an OLD hair dryer but it went up in flames after a couple of guitars.Sand paper takes off too much wood and wears the old arm out.I hope that helps.
Really? well screw Mark Twain.
