  • How to ship an amp

Take the tubes out if it's a tube amp. Then either ship them seperately or wrap them carefully in bubble wrap and put that inside the amp chassis. Use a box that is 3" bigger on all sides, and use trash bags full of packing material for it. Shippers want/require double boxing, but using a 3" rule and lots of packing seem to work ok. If you have access to a foam machine or original packing, USE IT! Other wise you should be ok with the advice above. If the amp is really heavy, you may want to reinforce the corners. If you're shipping a 4x12, good freakin' luck! I've done it once and it was hell on earth. Find a local buyer.

If you can help it, do NOT leave the tubes in the amp. Don't leave a footswitch loose in the box either, unless you want the amp to become a fender relic wannabe. Electronic claims are even harder than guitar ones to prove, so good luck... stave it off by overpacking to begin with.
